Creating Pages, Uploading Files, and creating Links in PBWorks

NOTE:  Let me know if any of this is not clear or incomplete and I will work on it.

Working in PBWorks

Process for Creating a New Page or link in PBWorks

This assumes you want to paste in your Unit, Lessons, and Resources (or at least some of them):

  1. Click on Units & Lessons on the Sidebar
  2. Click on the Edit Tab
  3. Type you’re your Unit Name and School in one of the numbers listed from 1 to 8.
  4. Drag across the name to highlight it.
  5. Select “Insert a Link to a New Page” on the Sidebar
  6. Change the name if you wish or just hit Enter on your keyboard
  7. Click Save at the bottom of the page
  8. Now click on your new name
  9. When the new window comes up click on the Create Page button

10. You are now ready to put in your information,  See the Windsor High School example for how you should set up that page.

Follow the same procedure as above on this new page to put in all your work.

Linking to files you have Uploaded to PBWorks

If you wish to upload the files and link to them do as follows:

  1. Click on “Upload Files”  near the top right-hand side of the page.
  2. A Window appears that shows you files that have already been uploaded.  Select The “Upload Files” tab on the left near the top.  That will bring up a window from your computer.  You must now locate the file you wish to upload.
  3. Follow this procedure for all files you wish to upload.  Remember do NOT upload large Files like Videos or a bunch of pictures.  These files should generally be text based.
  4. Once you have uploaded all the files enter the name or a descriptor of each file that you wish to link to one at a time.
  5. Click on the Edit tab to make sure you are in the Edit mode
  6. One at a time highlight them and click on the Images and Files tab on the right side of the sidebar.  This is immediately above the “Insert Link to a New Page” link.
  7. Identify the file you wish to link to and click on it and hit Enter on your keyboard.
  8. Repeat this for each file you wish to link.
  9. Be sure to click on Save when you are done.

Linking to External Files

If you have large files you must host them elsewhere.  This could be on your own school server or a place like YouTube. In this case you would simply create a link to these files as follows…

  1. Click on the Edit tab is you and not already in the Edit mode.
  2. Type in the name of the Lesson, Resource or whatever it is you are going to link to.
  3. Drag across it to highlight it.
  4. Select “Insert a Link” from the sidebar like you did previously.
  5. Select Web Address from the left of the box that pops up.
  6. Paste in or type in the URL (web address)
  7. Hit Enter
  8. Click Save at the bottom of the page.
